Ticks in GTA, Eastern Ontario, Southern Ontario, Central Ontario and Northern Ontario

There are clear seasonal patterns of activity observed in different geographic regions and for different tick species.  

NORTHERN ONTARIO

18% of the blacklegged ticks tested positive as carrier of Lyme disease

7% of ticks were seen on cats.  1 in 3 ticks were found on heads, ears and shoulders

EASTERN ONTARIO

27% of the blacklegged ticks tested positive as carrier of Lyme disease

25% of ticks were seen on cats. 1 in 2 ticks were found on heads, ears and shoulders

 

CENTRAL ONTARIO

19% of the blacklegged ticks tested positive as carrier of Lyme disease

 20% of ticks were seen on cats.  1 in 3 ticks were found on heads, ears and shoulders

 

GTA

30% of the blacklegged ticks tested positive as carrier of Lyme disease

 8% of ticks were seen on cats.  1 in 2 ticks were found on heads, ears and shoulders

SOUTHERN ONTARIO

20% of the blacklegged ticks tested positive as carrier of Lyme disease

 16% of ticks were seen on cats.  1 in 2 ticks were found on heads, ears and shoulders
