Food, Storing, Serving

How do you transition to new food?

There is no one-size-fits-all method for changing from one food to another. The best rule of thumb is the gradual approach:

  • Day 1: Mix 20% of the new food with 80% of the old
  • Day 2: Mix 40% of the new food with 60% of the old.
  • Day 3: Mix 60% of the new food with 40% of the old.
  • Day 4: Mix 80% of the new food with 20% of the old.
  • Day 5: 100% of the new food

How do you store the food?

With NO preservatives, the food must be stored in the freezer; and in the refrigerator between consumptions.  You can keep the frozen meals in the freezer for up to 12 months. Once a meal is defrosted, it should be kept in the fridge and used within 4 days.

How do you serve the meals?

You can

  • Thaw overnight in the refrigerator OR
  • Warm up directly in microwave OR
  • Warm up directly in oven for a more crunchy texture

Warmed food is more palatable than cold food. Our testing repeatedly shows higher savory scores when our meals are slightly moistened and warmed up before serving.

Our Eco-friendly trays are both microwave and oven safe (Do NOT use a toaster oven).  Simply peel back or slit open the tray seal before warming up.   Quickly check for spots that may be too hot for your pet's mouth.

If you prefer thawing, transfer the frozen meals to the refrigerator; usually overnight; or place the sealed tray under constant running water. Frozen foods should never be thawed under hot water or at room temperature

Where can I find your products?

We only sell online. We cut-out the middleman so that more of your money goes towards the high quality food for your pup.

Are your meals good for puppies/kittens as well?

Our whole ingredients formula is for adults. Puppies/kitties have different needs and require a different whole food formulations. We do not add extractive boosters.  Nutrients are most potent when absorbed from whole food.

We do not recommend our meals for puppies or kittens before they grow into adults. Your pet's diet and care will need to consider two specific problems which affect young pups or kittens far more than adults : their delicate digestive system and their reduced immunity.

Your puppy will become an adult dog at the following ages

  • X-small breeds (up to 9 pounds): 8 months
  • Small breeds (9-22 pounds): 10 months
  • Medium breeds (23–55 pounds): 12 months
  • Large breeds (56-97 pounds): 15 months
  • Giant breed (over 97 pounds): 18 to 24 months

Your kitten will become an adult cat between 12 to 18 months.

If you have a large kitten who cannot keep weight on, you can consider continue on the kitty diet past 18 months. However, if your kitten is maturing quickly and becoming overweight on kitten food, you may consider switching to adult food before 1 year old.

Why do you use seasonal vegetables?

We use the freshest ingredients whenever possible. Using seasonal vegetables also adds diversity to nutrients and flavor.  There are many excellent farms in Ontario offering fresh vegetables all year round.
